welding components, such as the APT1500R Welding Robot, a generator, and a hydraulic manipulator. The weld-ing components are mounted on a North American truck chassis equipped with hi-rail gear. Plasser has designed a new and eco-nomical flash-butt Welding Robot, theAPT1500R. Due to its flexible configura-tion, it is available as the APT1500RA, a rail bound machine, the APT1500RC, a
self-contained portable version, or as the APT1500RL, a truck mounted version. The main features of the new rail Welding Robot are: fully automatic alignment of the running edge and top of the rail, low consumption welding to achieve a high-quality weld in shorter time and with lessburn-off, as well as automatic evaluation and documentation of the weld.
